Shade of Dingle Earrings - Róisín Dubh
Shade of Dingle Earrings - Róisín Dubh
Siobhán wanted to add a black crystal pair of earrings to this collection.
We have named these Róisín Dubh, which is Irish for Little Dark Rose, and the name of one of Ireland's most famous political songs. Róisín Dubh is a metaphor for Ireland, and the song tells of Ireland’s history and struggles between the 16th and 19th centuries. The song is traditionally sung in Irish. In this case, using Roísín Dubh to represent Ireland prevented prosecution for writing or singing a political song. Many poems, songs, and paintings represented Ireland as a female.
These memorialize Siobhán’s childhood trips to County Kerry, Ireland. She has happy memories of listening to live trad bands during her summers with her parents.
