About Siobhán Kiernan
Siobhán is originally from Dublin, Ireland. She lives with her husband, children, and two dogs in Connecticut, U.S.A. Siobhán loves to travel and is lucky to have the opportunity to visit Ireland every year.
In 2018, Siobhán left her full-time career in international tax to follow her artistic dreams. Siobhán has been creative all her life- from painting and drawing since she was a child to making jewelry and beading since she was a teenager.
Each jewelry piece is handmade in her home studio in Connecticut. Most of her pieces use Swarovski crystals woven with Miyuki seed beads. Each pair of earrings takes many hours to create, from adding the first bead to attaching the metal earring hook. The statement earrings are some of Siobhán’s favorite pieces. The wearer can easily add a pop of color and show their personality in any outfit, from jeans and a t-shirt to an evening gown. Siobhán is delighted to make one-of-a-kind custom pieces and is happy to incorporate vintage stones or up-cycle a preloved piece.
Siobhán creates every day. “I have been creating art all my life. I cannot remember a time when I wasn't drawing or creating something. It started with a box of Crayola crayons and never stopped! - Siobhán.
In her paintings, Siobhán is deeply inspired by Irish Art and illuminated manuscripts from the 7th - 9th Centuries, such as the Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow. She reinterprets their intricate detail and symbolism through a contemporary lens. By layering rich, luminous color with ornate patterns and designs, she breathes new life into a heritage that continues to inspire and evolve.
Her mixed media art, Siobhán, explores textures, materials, and form. Siobhán creates pieces that communicate story, strength, and joy. Each work reflects her belief that art should feel alive and contain a message.
Siobhán has been selected for two years to participate in her home city of Stamford’s interactive downtown sculpture exhibit. Her vibrant Duck, “What’s the Quack?”, and her empowering “Tiger Piggy” brought bold color, personality, and playful spirit to the streets, inviting the community to engage directly with her art.
